Accessibility Statement

We want as many people as possible to be able to use AboutMi. For example, this means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using only a keyboard
  • navigate most of the platform using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the platform using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver)

We have designed the platform with accessibility in mind and aim to ensure it is usable by people with a wide range of abilities.

The platform is designed to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 Level AA standard.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of the platform may not yet be fully accessible. For example:

  • Some third-party embedded content may not fully meet WCAG accessibility standards.
  • Some complex interactive tools or visual components may require additional accessibility improvements.
  • Uploaded content or documents provided by organisations using the platform may not always be fully accessible.

We are continually working to improve the accessibility of the platform and address any issues that are identified.

Technical information about accessibility

AboutMi is committed to making its platform accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

The platform is designed to comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 Level AA.

Compliance status

The platform is partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA, due to the non-compliances listed below.

We continue to review and improve accessibility across the platform.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with accessibility regulations

Some areas of the platform may not yet fully meet accessibility standards. For example:

  • Certain form elements may require improved labelling or ARIA attributes.
  • Some dynamic content may require additional announcements for screen readers.
  • Some visual charts or data displays may require additional text alternatives.

We are working to address these issues as part of ongoing platform development.

Content that is not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Some content uploaded by organisations using the platform (such as PDFs or attachments) may not always meet accessibility standards.

Where possible, we encourage organisations to upload accessible content and provide guidance to support this.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

Accessibility is considered throughout the development lifecycle of the platform.

Measures include:

  • use of accessible design patterns and semantic HTML
  • keyboard navigation support
  • compatibility with assistive technologies
  • colour contrast and readable typography
  • responsive layouts for different devices
  • ongoing accessibility reviews during development updates

We aim to continually improve accessibility through testing, feedback and iterative design.
